FMCGMath provides free online calculators to help Indian FMCG founders model their unit economics, tax obligations, product shelf life, and production quantities. Every calculator uses publicly documented formulas and industry reference ranges. We do not guarantee that any output is accurate, complete, or applicable to your specific product, geography, or business situation.
India's Goods and Services Tax rates, HSN classifications, and ITC eligibility rules change periodically via GST Council notifications. The rates shown in our calculator reflect commonly published slabs for standard FMCG categories and may not reflect the latest amendments. Do not use our GST calculator output to file GSTR returns, raise tax invoices, or determine ITC claims without first confirming the applicable rate with a registered Chartered Accountant or GST practitioner. Incorrect GST filing can attract penalties under the CGST Act.
Margin percentages for distributors and retailers shown in our calculator (e.g., distributor margin 8–12% of MRP, retailer margin 15–20% of MRP) reflect general industry ranges common in Indian general trade. Actual margins negotiated with your trade partners may differ significantly based on category, geography, order size, and brand equity. The calculator does not account for all cost line items — freight, breakage, credit period cost, promotional schemes, and returnable packaging are examples of items you must add manually. Use these outputs for early-stage planning, not for investor reporting or P&L certification.
Our shelf life estimator uses published food science models — including Q10 temperature sensitivity rules, water activity thresholds, and packaging barrier ratings — to produce a directional best-before date estimate. This is not an accelerated shelf-life test (ASLT) result. FSSAI regulations under Schedule II of the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations require that best-before declarations on food labels be supported by validated shelf-life studies conducted at FSSAI-accredited or NABL-accredited laboratories. FMCGMath's estimate cannot substitute for this requirement. Use our estimate for early-stage packaging and cold-chain decisions; always validate with a certified lab before commercial launch or label printing.
Scaling a recipe from test batch to commercial production involves variables our calculator cannot model — equipment dead zones, heat transfer differences at volume, microbial load at scale, and ingredient quality variation across suppliers. Our output gives you proportional ingredient quantities based on the ratios you enter. It does not guarantee that a product scaled using these quantities will match the original in texture, taste, colour, or microbiological safety. Always run production trials before committing to large-scale ingredient procurement or co-packer contracts.
Using FMCGMath's tools does not create a professional relationship of any kind — no consultancy, no advisory, no agency. FMCGMath is not a registered financial advisor, tax consultant, food technologist, or regulatory consultant.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FMCGMath and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from reliance on calculator outputs. This includes but is not limited to: incorrect GST payments, failed food safety inspections, rejected co-packer batches, or losses arising from inaccurate margin projections.
